we're featured on the "gothic spirits 12" compilation with the previously unreleased (!) "scary / fairy" from our upcoming album. also on the double cd: lacrimas profundere, jesus on extasy, end of green, leave's eyes... you name it.

xmas is coming, and so it's time for the next issue of our label's great and crazy compilation"black snow". vol. 2 due this year, and we're featured with our classic "a wish" videoclip. the one with the funny santa. an new and exclusive track by sid's KILLEDBYCANDY, "tanz den weihnachtsmann" has found it's way on the beautifully packaged album as well as his last year's clip to "cinnamon"

We're gonna play a special show on MArch 27th, 2010 at the KIKAS in Aiggen (Austria). Special in two ways: The whole concert will be videotaped and is to be broadcast later on in Austrian television.

And: we're playing some new tracks from our upcoming second album. Expect great songs (and a lot of mistakes...). By the way: free entrance, four other great acts and a shitload of rock'n'roll guaranteed!

as some might know we're releasing a couple of songs this summer. and here's the great thing: you can be part of this release. how? no, we don't want you to do music. that should be our job. but we give you (yes, you! right behind your computer) the chance to take the album to the next level - visual-wise. or, in other words: we're too lazy and / or too broke to do it ourselves...

below you'll find the list of songs we're recording. and, to stimulate your imagination, something about the overall feel and atmosphere of the song. with three tags: one word about the content, the matching colour and the matching drug. if you feel the inspiration coming, grab your keyboard, mouse, pencil, or whatever appropriate and paint, photograph or write something to one of these songs. or more than one. or all of them. up to you. send it to us: art@thepussybats.com

the plan is to do a booklet, one page a song, one piece of your art per song.

what we can't promise: to pick your submission. or to pick any submission at all - although we've got greatest faith in you and really look forward to your works, we will only use those pieces that really kick us. this, of course, strictly subjective. but we won't compromise our album, that's just not our way of doing things.

what we can promise: we're fucking excited about your submissions and will look carefully at each and everyone. we can also promise that noone who submits something will do it in vain - every serious submission will be rewarded. for example with one unreleased song exclusively for those who participate! and other things - be curious! those pieces we'll pick for the booklet will be rewarded in a special way, with a free album and a ticket for a pussybats show of your choice. and, by the way - we've some concepts in mind already to use more or all of the submission in some way or anaother. but of course we won't do anything without your permission so we contact you to check details.

long time no post - and it will be text-only this time, too.

news? well, we're still in recording mode. current topic: guitars. i (sid) had a little conversation with our producer this morning (well: 1pm...) concerning how to proceed. and: we set up dates for vocal recordings. so, in two weeks guitars should be done. let's see...

and we had a little band meeting on sunday about some business possibilities. all we can say now: be curious! it won't be "same old".

some thoughts about 'a wish'

there's been some interesting comments about our new video „a wish“ on myspace and elsewhere – most people seem not to really understand it (or don't have the power to think about it longer than two seconds). whatever. of course it's everybody's very right to like or not to like anything but it's almost unfair to state we did it this way cause we are sick, we like to torture women, don't know about our responsibilities (?) as artists (??) or whatever. this is in fact the only video so far we did with some kind of deeper meaning behind it. so we will do something unusual: give an explanation.

what is this video about? three starting points for interpretation:

first one: it's fun. ok this is where our sickness comes into play – you got us. we like to play with twists, with unusual contrasts and a little bit of provocation. because otherwise... it's kinda boring to play a „nice“ song with a „nice“ video and nobody really cares about it. and as we can see on the reactions: it works.

second one: the song is called „a wish“, isn't it? it's about christmas, about gifts and about our hunger for more and more material things for our own fun (iphones, notebooks, tvs, shoes, clothes, cars, you name it...) not paying attention for what we should really wish for and how we keep on destroying lives, destroying the world we live in if we keep going that way. christmas should be about peace and love and hope for everyone – or, should we say: everything should be about love, peace and hope for everybody – and what do you do? buy yourself a new pair of nikes, knowing that the whole business model of that company bases on exploiting the lives of their „employees“... got the point? of course that is not a new idea, it's not a very original idea but still, even if it's some kind of christmas kitsch: it is fucking true. ok, back to our little video: why doesn't do this straight? you wanna exploit lives, you want to use lives for your own fun – so why don't wish for a girl to torture?

third one: you know santa clause. the fat guy in the red clothes, beard and all that. and: always friendly, always with a smile on his face (hidden behind the beard, but anyway...). that's his job. and that's just the way it's going on in our society these days: you've to be a certain way, play a certain role in order to have success – to know and to fulfill your role, your function. no space left or right, no way to break out. getting your job done means getting your life done. but we are not made like that. we're not machines which are to setup once and keep on going ever after... and that constant pressure leaves scars. some get a burn-out, some get depressions (kinda the same, but burn-out sounds more... trendy) and some get, well... angry. and search ways to get rid of that angriness...

we spent yet another day in the studio and we've been very creative.

dead diary... well, we arrived at the studio yesterday. recordings started today, one song is already completed.. drum-wise ;) anyway. everything seems to work out pretty cool - it's always a pleasure to record with the two hahns. i'd love to put some pics in, but i'm too stupid to download those from my cellphone. damn... well lets see if we can manage this the next days. ah and one thing: my giitars from g&l arrived (thx, frank!!!). fucking great ones! hard to decide which one to keep... i instantly fell in love with all of them!

last thursday, we met with our producers thomas and böni (hahn&hahn) in their sweet little studio to talk about the production process and which songs to put on the record, what to change in arrangements etc etc. very constructive meeting instead - if the recordings go along as smoothly this is gonna be like holiday! looking forward to beat marple in wii-tennis all the time *cough* ...

we're not gonna spend too much days in the studio this time, cause this album is going to be more straight-forward rock'n'roll. more info later on...
